What is High Potential Individual (HPI) Visa
this type of visa gives you permission to stay in the United Kingdom for more than two years and to be to be eligible for a High Potential Individual (HPI) visa, you must have been awarded a qualification by an eligible university. The list of eligible universities is based on rankings of universities from around the world. This type of visa is a post-study work visa scheme for talented university graduates from around the world. It is awarded to Bachelors, Masters and PhD graduates from some of the world’s top universities. The (HPI) visa allows students who have graduated from a top global university to arrive in the UK and seek work.

ELIGIBILITY FOR THIS VISA

You don’t need an offer of employment for this visa as there aren’t any restriction on the type of work you can do. You need to have graduated from any of the eligible institution. The list of eligible institutions includes universities that have appeared in the top 50 of two or more of the most prominent ranking systems (Times Higher Education World University Rankings, QS World University Rankings and the Academic Ranking of World Universities).

More requirements needed are listed below;

  • Prove your knowledge of English
  • Prove that you have enough personal savings to support yourself in the UK, unless you’ve been in the UK with a valid visa for at least 12 months
  • You do not need to have a job offer to apply.
  • You can apply for an HPI visa from inside the UK or outside the UK.
  • You can only apply for an HPI visa once.

You cannot apply for an HPI visa if:

  • You have already been given a Graduate visa
  • You have already come to the UK as a Doctorate Extension Scheme student.

HOW TO APPLY FOR HPI VISA

First thing you need to do when applying for a HPI visa you need to make sure you have you qualification (i.e. it’s the equivalent of a UK Bachelors, Masters or PhD degree).

Provide a valid passport and proof of your English language proficiency. If you are registering outside the UK the application procedure is online, visit a visa application centre to get a biometric residence permit (BRP). Scan your passport/identity document using the UK Immigration: ID you can check mobile app. Once you are done with this you will get a reply in 3 weeks.

Also, if you’re applying within the UK to switch from an eligible visa, you’ll need to apply online. You’ll need to prove your identity by either, attending a UK Visa and Citizenship Application Services (UKVCAS) service point to get a biometric residence permit (BRP). Scanning your passport/identity document using the UK Immigration: ID also check mobile app. A reply will be sent to in eight weeks.

HPI costs and fees

There are several costs and fees associated with a HPI visa. These include:

  • £210 for your Ecctis application
  • A £715 application fee
  • A healthcare surcharge of £624 per year

You’ll need to prove you have at least £1,270 in savings as well As being able to support your family once the join you in the UK.
